After 6 wonderful years as our MD, we are sad to say Sam is moving on - he will be greatly missed!
BUT here is a great opportunity for someone to continue the development of our friendly choir:
ADVERT FOR MD:
Chapel-en-le-Frith Ladies Choir is looking for a new MD. We are a friendly non-auditioned SSA choir of around 40 members, with an expert accompanist. We meet to rehearse on Monday evenings at Chapel-en-le-Frith Town Hall and usually present 4 or 5 concerts a year, along with other events such as community carol-singing and fundraising for local charities. This year is our golden anniversary, and we’re celebrating with music from many different cultures and continents – and aiming for a high standard in all of them. The role is paid a generous hourly rate (details on application).
Interested in finding out more about the job? Then please contact our secretary Margaret Cooper: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. See 'Contact Us' page for details.

** Our next concert is on Saturday 29th June at St John the Baptist Church in Buxton with guests The Greater Manchester Voices **

Review of our concert on 19th July, as part of Buxton Fringe Festival:

'This concert was a delight from start to finish and was deservedly completely sold-out.'

'The rapport between the choir and their Musical Director, Sam Gilliatt and Accompanist, Jane Simmons, was palpable.'

'The breadth of the Ladies’ repertoire went from William Cornish’s ‘Ah Robin’, a 15th Century a cappella round to Belinda Carlisle’s 1987 hit ‘Heaven is a Place on Earth’, taking in an African-American spiritual and a Xhosa hymn. How could this not be impressive? Combined with the choir’s enthusiasm, clarity, and their camaraderie, the event was thoroughly enjoyable.'
